A Unique Way to Treat CIRS+Lyme
Treating Chronic Lyme is not treating Acute Lyme: How does classical Eastern Medicine approach this difference?
In this talk, Dr. Varga, DAOM presents the difference of a classical eastern medicine diagnosis and herbal prescription to that of a western pharmaceutical, herbal and TCM (traditional chinese medicine) approach. Going back hundreds of years, physicians distinguished chronic infections from acute infections and created treatment methods to adress their differences. Chronic infections are classified as either Gu syndrome that is primarily within the gut and Nüe syndrome that is primarily within the brain and nervous system. There is always some degree of cross-over due to the gut-brain axis.
Gu syndrome is an aggressive helminthic/worm, protozoan, fungal affliction that has become systemic in an immune-compromised patient. Brain Gu or Nüe syndrome, with Lyme being one of the most typical manifestations, is a chronic infection due to a spirochete bacteria (ex. syphilis, Lyme), virus (ex. EBV - epstein barr, HSV - herpes simplex virus), and/or protozoa (ex. malaria, babesia) from an insect (tick, mosquito, flea) bite. Nüe also translates as torture disease relaying the degree of mental/emotional suffering that is often experienced by the patient due to the severe parasitic infection that inflames their nervous system. Modern research also points to the relationship of parasitic infections with psychopathology as well as neurodegenerative disease.
Importantly, modern research reports incidences of a worsening of disease despite aggressive antiparasitic [fungal, protozoal, bacterial, viral] treatment. (Anil A. Panackal et al. Fighting the Monster: Applying the Host Damage Framework to Human Central Nervous System Infections. Mbio 2016:7(1);e01906-15). This parallels a classical eastern approach that noted, “… bad physicians read but do not understand him and make wanton use [of antimicrobial therapies]. Much as they want to save people, they do harm to them.” (Treatise on the Spleen & Stomach by Li Gao (1180-1251 CE). Modern research has shown this harm to stem from damage done to the microbiome. To prevent damage, physicians developed elegant herbal formulas designed for the treatment of chronic infections. These are the Classical Pearls formulas that The Jupiter Approach uses in the treatment of Chronic Lyme + coinfections. Watch the replay
